A solder station is essentially a soldering iron which is controlled from an adjustable electronic power supply or base unit. Sometimes, the control is through a variable pot with corresponding temperatures on the potentiometer dial. Another, more sophisticated solder station may use a microprocessor which controls the temperature of the heating element through a thermocouple. This type of solder station nearly always implements a liquid crystal or led display to display the status of the system to the user. 

Circuit Specialists carries many different solder stations. Our low cost units are generally suitable for most traditional soldering applications and the quality, despite the cost, is still to our high standards. Now that lead free solder is popping up more and more on manufactured electronic products, a solder station that can handle this type of solder would be recomended. a 60 watt solder station is generally recomended although some less powerful solder stations with the heating elements integrated into the tip ( for faster heat recovery) are also very effective with lead free solder.
